qlb قلبي

in collaboration with montse basora, qlb (short for qalbi) is a chest piece that
breaks the illusion of a perfect world by disrupting norms, embracing discomfort,
and protecting those who live outside them.
this project began with a desire to create something that protects, but not in
the traditional sense. i wasn’t interested in softness or subtlety. i wanted to
build a piece that feels raw, confrontational even. something that holds the body
but doesn’t blend in with it. something that interrupts.
qlb is a chest piece that explores the space between discomfort and care. it acts
as jewelry, sculpture, and armor all at once, an object that doesn’t ask to be
understood right away. i didn’t want it to feel smooth or resolved. it needed to
hold tension. literally. every connection in this piece is held together without
welding. it stays intact because of force, resistance, balance.
qlb doesn’t offer one right way to wear it. it’s open to interpretation. it
listens to the body it lands on. it protects, but never quietly. it protects by
being seen.
